Artisan furrier in the heart of the city centre

Dear Visitor! Welcome here!

I’m Endre Gábor Kocsis, furrier. I’m from a family with strong roots of craftsmanship. My father and also my grand-grandfather was a furrier. Me, I spent my prentice years by József Bogdán, and I became an assistant furrier in 1980. I worked with my father and my brother until 1986, then I became an independent craftsman. I received the Craftsman Certificate in 1989 after having passed the master craftsman examination.

I create a diverse palette of products: various women’s or men’s coats, furcoats, children’s caps, waistcoats, collars, gloves. My traditional, old Hungarian winter busbies used by the peoples of the steppe (not Turkish, Italian or Chinese products) are very special. Overlay leather waistcoats, braided Hungarian “Bocskai” coats, models for both men and women are made in my workshop.

I receive the braiding for the coats from Tamás Hajdú, folkloristic craftsman, as well as from the Association of the Braiding Industry. I purchase my basic materials from the Pannónia Szőrme Rt. and fellow furriers.

I buy raw leather from Hungarian hunters and I let them curry. As there is no precious fur in Hungary, I import these from auctions in Frankfurt and Copenhagen. I exclusively work from these exceptionally high quality pieces of leather.

For some years, I’ve been presenting myself at the Christmas markets organized for the last couple of years. It is especially important for me due to the seasonal (winter) character of my profession.
